Windmill Experiments
Experiment 1:

Observation: looking at wind turbines we wanted to build our own turbine, and use it to produce energy.

Hypothesis: Can we build a fully functional wind turbine?

Experiment: We bought a wind turbine kit by Thomas and Kosmas. We constructed a wind turbine using a variety of parts, a screw driver, and a hair dryer. We then completed the construction of a wind turbine.

Conclusion: From conducting a scientific experiment we have proven we can successfully build a completely functional wind turbine.

Experiment 2

Wind turns the turbine                                                             Water bottle is lifted off the floor

Observation: looking at our wind turbine and that it is fully functional, can we use it for different tasks.

Hypothesis: Can our constructed and completely functional wind turbine create energy and power to raise a water bottle off the ground.

Experiment: We built our wind turbine and connected a rope and water bottle.  The weight of the water bottle we lifted was 82 grams (.082 kg.).  We measured with a triple beam scale.

Conclusion: Our wind turbine can produce power and energy to life a water bottle.
