The Mid-winter vacation has been extended for an additional day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 28th. Rome City School District has decided to use a snow day for Monday, February 27th. As a result of this decision bus transportation will not be provided within the district, so we will also be using a snow day for the 27th.
Hoops for Hearts was such a wonderful event. The Senior Class was a great help with all the younger grades. The children had a lot of fun, but most importantly we raised several thousand dollars for the American Heart Association. A special thank you to Ms. Bagnall for all of her hard work!
Box tops have been collected since the beginning of school and so far we have been able to collect $501.00 worth of box tops. Thank you to Laurette Coluccio, our Box Top Coordinator and all the parents who have spent their time cutting out the box tops. The funding from box tops goes to educational items that are needed for the school.
RCS has participated in many contests, games, and competitions. We are fortunate to have so many talented and hard working students. Yesterday, seven of our students won an award for the DAR (Daughter’s of the American Revolution) essay competition. Congratulations to Jakob Talbot, Jovonna Walseman, Savannah O’Rourke, Conner Grey and Rowan Call, Jack & Cole O’Shaughnessy. Also, our Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams have made it to sectionals. Both teams will compete tonight! Aaron Coluccio took first place for the Skills USA competition in his BOCES program. He won first place with his Small Engine Repair and is now headed for State Competition. Good luck to all in their up coming contests!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe vacation
God Bless,
Michael Powers,
