About Mrs. Swistak

My name is Barbara Swistak. I was born in Rome, N.Y. and attended Rome Catholic (St. Mary’s) as well as public schools. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from SUNY Geneseo.  I also earned my Diocesan Religious Certification from the Diocese of Syracuse.

I previously taught at the New York State School for the Deaf in Rome, in Baldwinsville (N.Y.) public schools, at the Syracuse DDSO as a workshop instructor, and St. Mary’s Parish/Faith Formation-Confirmation. I’ve taught for over twenty-five years for the Diocese of Syracuse at Transfiguration, St. Peter’s, and presently, Rome Catholic School.  In 2014, I was honored to receive the Syracuse Diocese’s Witness to Faith Award. I have been blessed to work with so many wonderful children and families.

I’ve served on St. Mary’s Parish Council, Rome Catholic School’s Principal’s Council, as Assistant Basketball Coach at Transfiguration and St. Peter’s School (William Valentine League), PTO Treasurer, and for over fifteen years as a Girl Scout leader for the Foothills Girl Scout Council with two terms as a Service Team Leader.

I enjoy reading, solving crossword puzzles, cooking, crocheting, sewing, playing the piano, family gatherings, and especially playing with my grandchildren.
