Annual Appeal

The Annual Appeal is a yearly fundraising effort to underwrite the development budget of Rome Catholic School.  It is the generous financial support from our alumni, grandparents, and friends that allow us to continue offering the high academic standards long associated with a Catholic Education.

Restricted Gifts
A restricted monetary gift made to the Annual Appeal is given to support a specific department or program in the school  (e.g., Music, Art, Technology, and Athletics).

Unrestricted Gifts
An unrestricted gift made to the Annual Appeal is without specifications.  These funds are used at the discretion of RCS administration and school board to address an immediate need or an issue impacting students.

Matching Gift Funds
Nationwide more than 3,000 companies, foundations, and organizations participate in a “Matching Gift Program” for current and retired employees.  A donation made by an employee to non-profit organizations such as Rome Catholic is matched at no charge to the employee.

Most Human Resource Departments have information and required program paperwork.

Sponsor-A-Student Program (SAS)

A Catholic Education has a proven record of academic excellence in an environment fostering spiritual growth.  The Syracuse Diocese continuously strives to keep tuitions affordable for the communities it serves, but due to the increasing costs of health care, fuel, and general operational expenses tuitions have increased, which places a financial burden on the diverse population served by Rome Catholic School.

The Sponsor-A-Student Program (SAS), which is a restricted donation for tuition aid, is an opportunity to give the gift of a Catholic Education to a child in financial need in a family-centered environment that prepares them to meet the challenges of today’s global society.  Full, ½, and ¼ year tuition sponsors will remain anonymous, but will receive quarterly academic reports about the student they sponsor and two written correspondences from the student.  All students in the SAS program are responsible for maintaining a “B” or 80% overall average or risk losing the sponsorship.

General Gifts
General gifts in any amount restricted to the SAS Program are greatly appreciated and contribute to educating a child with financial need.

To become a sponsor or if you have questions about the Sponsor-A-Student Program at Rome Catholic School  contact Jennifer Balog, Development Coordinator at 315-336-6190 ext. 2232 or jbalog@syrdiocese.org.

Rome Catholic School Endowment Fund

What is an Endowment?
An endowment fund is a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding.  Endowment assets are invested and each year, a portion of the value of the fund is paid out to support the fund's purpose, and any earnings in excess of this distribution are used to build the fund's market value.  An endowment fund can grow and provide support for its designated purpose in perpetuity.  When you establish an endowment fund, you create a permanent legacy of support for Rome Catholic School.

Why does Rome Catholic School Need an Endowment?
An endowment is an investment in the school’s future.  It is established to provide for the future financial stability of the school.  It is a visible sign of the community’s commitment to Catholic education and the goal is to grow the endowment over time so that each year, more money is available to contribute to the school’s budget and as the endowment grows so does Rome Catholic School’s ability to carry on its mission.

How is the Money Invested?
Rome Catholic School invests the funds with the Syracuse Diocese.  The Syracuse Diocese under the direction of Rome Catholic School’s finance committee oversees the management of the investment.  While the endowment is invested with the Diocese, the proceeds are distributed directly to Rome Catholic quarterly.

How can I financially support Rome Catholic School’s Endowment?

  • Remember the endowment in your will

  • Name the endowment fund a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or IRA account

  • Give appreciated assets to the fund

  • Donate a charitable gift annuity

  • Name the endowment as the eventual beneficiary

Brick by Brick Campaign

“Continuing Our Tradition
In 2002 the “Brick by Brick Capital Campaign” was launched and the Giving Wall was erected in the lobby of the school to honor or memorialize individuals who lived or are living out the mission of Catholic Schools.  Funds donated to the “Brick by Brick Campaign” help to preserve the heritage of Catholic Schools in Rome.

A brick can be purchased for the Giving Wall for one-thousand dollars though the Development Office at 315-336-6190 ext. 2234.

Gift Catalog

The Rome Catholic School Gift Catalog is a “wish list” of educational equipment and materials by grade and department.  A complete listing is available on the school website Gift Catalog or to request a hard copy contact the Development Office at 315-336-6190 ext. 2234.

Gift of Prayer

A gift of prayer is a powerful act of sharing with the Holy Father thoughts, feelings, and graces for the school and we gain strength by your daily prayers to fulfill the mission of Rome Catholic.

 Catholic School Prayer

Eternal God
Bless all schools, colleges, and universities,
especially Rome Catholic School that they may be lively centers for sound learning,
new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom;
and grant that those who teach and those who learn
may find you to be the source of all truth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
