ART CLUB |
|
The Art Club
meets every Monday after school from 2:30-3:30 P.M. in
the art room. Students in grades 5 through 12 are
welcome to attend. (Students must arrange their own
transportation home). This is a chance to pursue more
in-depth art projects directed by the teachers, or use
as studio time for personal projects. Guest artists
sometimes join us to demonstrate their specialty. Come
join the club and develop your creativity! Mrs. Tan and
Mrs. Riolo. |

BAND |
|
Instructor: Mr. Michael
DiMeo.
The
band program starts at the elementary school. Students
are recruited in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades. They try
out instruments at the beginning of the year and are
guided by the teacher to an instrument that they like
and can play. Students receive a small group lesson
1x/week with like instruments. At the middle of the
school year they come together 1x/week for a beginning
band experience - they perform at the spring concert.
Second and third year students receive a lesson once a
week also but, in addition, they are placed in the
elementary band which meets during the specials block
2x/week. They perform at the winter and spring
concerts. It is the same in junior high. Once we get
students in high school, we expect to do the same.
Our
goals are to have, in addition to the concert bands,
various small ensembles that can perform at the concerts
or at mass or civic or school functions. Our top goal
is to have a small jazz/rock ensemble at the middle and
high school level. |
|
CHORUS |
|
We are proud to offer the
Chorus Experience for all singers, veteran or novice in
Grades 4-12. Our singers are a close-knit group that
perform not only for the Winter and Spring concerts, but
also for our monthly masses and many other events both
within and outside the school walls. Because of small
class sizes, students get more personal attention and
gain confidence in their abilities much quicker than
they would in larger groups. We sing a wide pallet of
songs from our sacred and historical roots, as well as
current tunes from Broadway and Billboard - Top 40. |

THE DARE PROGRAM |
|
The Drug Abuse Awareness
Education (DARE) program is a special 18 week course
designed for the fifth grade class. A police officer
visits once a week to share knowledge about harmful
drugs. The children receive a workbook of the lessons
and activities for serious study of all the dangers of
drugs. Many lessons are spent on peer pressure and how
to avoid or leave a situation concerning the offer of
various drugs. The children form groups and do skits
about the eight ways to say NO to drugs. Each student
writes an essay on the information presented about drug
prevention. A graduation ceremony takes place at the end
of the progam with many community leaders present. |

students who don't take private lessons, but those who
